The six high-quality all-weather tennis courts at the Pretoria Country Club are situated next to the Club’s beautiful lake and are surrounded by lawns, flower beds and trees. A more beautiful setting is hard to imagine. Bird life and a few guinea fowls add to the charm of the environment. Four floodlit courts provide the opportunity to play tennis after sunset. And after a good session of social tennis, what better way to relax than with a cup of tea or beer in the tennis kiosk.

Tennis players are exempt from paying the loyalty fee and only pay R 250.00 entrance fee. The tennis committee controls the affairs of the tennis section. For those interested in competitive tennis, the committee arranges the annual club championships, various round robin tournaments and the annual veterans tournament.

FLOODLIT TENNIS

All 6 tennis courts are floodlit. Reservations can be made at reception.  Collect the key from reception prior to play. The keys open one of the switch boxes located at the back of the tennis kiosk.

Please note that the person making the reservation will be responsible for switching the lights off after play and for returning the key to reception. If the club is closed at the end of play, leave the key in the drop box at the top of the reception stairs outside the door.

SOCIAL TENNIS

Social tennis is organised by the Tennis Committee for the players every Saturday and Wednesday at 14h00

Members pay a fee for tennis balls, including cake and a cup of tea.

COACH DINO PAVLOU ( HEAD COACH )

Dino Pavlou has been playing competitive tennis for the past 29 years. He was top junior national player. He has represented both South Africa and Cyprus internationally. Dino had a very successful tennis academy in Cyprus for 11 years before relocating back to South Africa in 2012. He developed many top ranked players. While in Cyprus he played on a professional level, being on the ATP circuit and representing Cyprus in the Davis Cup. He has worked with top ranked players such as Marcos Baghdatis and Nadia Petrova.

Dino’s love and passion for the game and motivation to deliver an excellent service has aided him over the years to be a successful and internationally recognised tennis coach.
Dino is focused on constantly developing his coaching skills and theoretical knowledge of the game to ensure he is constantly delivering the latest techniques in this ever-evolving game of tennis.

Dino is passionate about helping people experience the enjoyment of improvement in their tennis game.

Dino firmly believes that tennis is a game for life. And wants people to share his love for tennis.

COACH BRYN LANGLEY

Bryn has been playing competitive tennis for the past 16 years. Bryn played at an international level representing Zimbabwe. He also played tennis for TUKS, the university of Pretoria, while studying for his degree in Sports Science. He was fortunate enough to be trained by Byron and Wayne Black, who were ATP world doubles, No 1’s. Bryn acquired a degree in Sports Science, specializing in development and physiology. This is a huge advantage to our students, as all lessons are structured specifically for their needs to reach their potential as quickly as possible.
Bryn has a keen interest in working with people of all ages and skill levels with a focus on developing modern techniques, physical development, metal confidence and overall tennis ability.

COACH WAYNE VAN NIEKERK

Wayne has been playing tennis competitively for 17 years. During those years, he was fortunate enough to play at both provincial and national levels, reaching a high of 20 in the country, Wayne also competed on the ITF Junior Circuit.

He has a degree in Sport science from the university of Pretoria mainly focusing on biomechanics and physiology, pertaining to a tennis specific environment. During his studies, he represented the University of Pretoria for 2 years and competed at the USSA’s.

Wayne coached at Boca West Country club in the USA.

Wayne has been a coach for 6 years, focusing on a wide variety of players from beginners to performance athletes. Wayne has a true passion for the sport of tennis that he carries through in every lesson and his wide skill level base will be beneficial to a player of any level.

Coaching Prices

  • Private lesson: R480/hour
  • Semi-Private lesson (2 people sharing): R300 p/person
  • Group lesson (3-4 Students): R220/person
  • 30min Private Lesson: R300

TENNIS MEMBERSHIP AND FEES

  • Application Form
  • All new members pay a once of fee of R155 for their Pretoria Country Club membership card.
    • This card entitles the holder to a 15% discount at all the facilities of the Club.
    • This card entitles the holder to rebates on booking of any of the catering venues at the Club.
  • Affiliation fees are included in the above
  • Floodlit Tennis: Court 1,2,3 and 4. Reservations can be made at reception. R40 p/h.
  • Collect keys at Reception prior to play by a Tennis member only.
  • Fees: A visitor, playing with a member will pay R70 and are limited to play once per month only.
